CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Peter Parker
Character Canon: Marvel Comics 616
History: Here
AU History: 21 years ago, a child named Peter Benjamin Parker was born to a pair of Rangers named Richard and Mary Parker. As they were often away on missions, Peter was usually left with Richard's brother Ben and his wife May, who were unable to have children themselves. Tragedy struck when Peter was 4, when Richard and Mary mysteriously disappeared on a routine mission, and Ben and May became Peter's legal guardians.
Peter's abilities as an Enlightened revealed themselves around the time he was 7. Uncle Ben and Aunt May attempted to instill a sense of responsibility about using them, but with his age there was only so much they could do. One day, while Peter was fooling around with his abilities, he, by accident, seriously hurt Ben. Ben healed, but was left with a severe limp, rendering work somewhat difficult for him
Peter was guilt-ridden, and vowed never to use his powers again. He threw himself into his studies, trying to get to a point where he could earn money for his family to try and make up for what he'd done. He pushed friends away, believing he'd only end up hurting them like he had Ben, Then, when he was 13, an earthquake hit the city. Damage was minimal, but a small sinkhole had opened up to the Old City near where Peter lived. Venturing outside the house after the quake, Peter heard the cries of a Trapinch coming from the hole, her leg trapped under a rock. His inital reaction was to go find some help, but the cries weighed on his mind. He'd vowed to never use his powers, but he couldn't ignore someone in need. And so he climbed, spider-like, down into the Old City, pushed the rock off with his strength, and carried the Trapinch back to the surface,
After that, it was like a lightbulb went on in Peter's head. His powers could harm people, but they could also be used to help them. That, and the fact that the Trapinch he rescued wouldn't stop following him, helped him break out of the shell he'd been building around himself. Though he still studied, he also started asking questions about the Swords and the Rangers, eventually deciding on the Rangers in order to both help other and still do research. He also managed to get ahold of a Warp Band, Bonding with the Trapinch, who he named Amanda for her mandibles, at the earliest opportunity.
He entered higher education, prepping for the day he'd go out into the world. In addition, he'd ended up getting hired as a private tutor for Dick Grayson, sending a good chunk of his pay from that position to his Aunt and Uncle. He eventually graduated, top of his class, and immediately signed up for the Rangers, using the position to protect the city as well as do field research.
During the search for the Iron Mines, he was out on a research trip, where he bonded with Webster, his Spinarak. The Earthquakes occurred during the tail-end of it, and as such he had to find safe ground and couldn't return until after they ceased.
While he was around during Team Evolution's appearance, he forgoed entering the tournament, and was suitable horrified at their use of Pokeballs.
He spent the remaining time in Union working and clarifying his notes, checking in with others and, upon entrance to the game, will just be returning from another 2-week research trip.
Canon Personality: Peter is a guilt-ridden mess. If awful things occur to others within his sphere of influence, he has the tendency to blame himself for it happening, regardless of whether he had any real control over what happened or not. As a result, he forces himself to work harder to prevent such occurrences from happening in the future, and it ends up becoming something of a vicious cycle when he can't live up to the demands he places upon himself.
While he doesn't place those same demands upon others, he does usually expect people to use their abilities responsibly, and has been known to chew those who don't do so out.
Which isn't to say he's some sort of joyless, depressed, workaholic. He loves some parts of what he does, has a slightly twisted sense of humor and a need to babble in the middle of high-stress situations as a coping tactic. He cares deeply for the people around him, and has learned not to sacrifice his relationships with them in order to keep them safe.
While he's not exactly pre-disposed to grudges, once he develops one he holds on to it like dog with a rawhide bone. And, while his chatter and jokes in the middle of a fight keep him on balance, it's lead to more than a few villains holding grudges against him over the years where learning how to shut up on occasion and just beat the crap out of them would've likely made them hate him less.
He's in possession of a genius-level intelligence, mostly focused towards chemistry, and his intellect has been known to impress both Reed Richards and Tony Stark.
He avoids killing whenever possible, and actually holds back against his enemies. Even when truly, utterly enraged, to the point where he's stopped talking and focused all of his mind on beating the person in front of him to paste, he's held back, although on several occasions he has come close to outright murder.
When the situation is dire enough, he's been able to put enmities on the back burner in order to take on a much larger threat. He's also fully aware that most of the people he fights can be redeemed.
He also has had mild issues with authority.
AU Deviation: Most notably, Uncle Ben and Aunt May are still alive. Also, unless someone apps them soon, he hasn't met Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn, or Mary Jane Watson yet. He's had the base-level version of his powers for much longer than his canon counterpart, and starts off knowing pretty much all the currently known information about what happened to his parents.
His issues with authority are pretty much non-existent, and of course isn't really interested in crimefighting as a career. Additionally, while his canon version is a skilled engineer, this version is mostly focused on research, rather than creating anything. He's also a somewhat skilled sketch-artist rather than a photographer.
Canon Abilities: Superhuman strength, superhuman agility, superhuman flexibility, superhuman equilibrium, low-level superhuman speed, wallcrawling, superhuman senses, superhuman reflexes, superhuman endurance, low-level superhuman durability, low-level healing factor, and a nigh-precognitive danger sense. I'm also borrowing a bit from post The Other, the powers received then include biological webbing, night vison, wrist stingers, arthropod communication, improved spider-sense, and occasionally appearing fangs.
Enlightened Abilities: Typing is Bug/Fighting. Ability is Analyst, and Pokemon Ability is Anticipation. Initial abilities tied to this typing are wallcrawling, sensory improvement, mild superstrength, superhuman equilibrium.
Moves learned and/or approximated at this level are Mach Punch, Sucker Punch, Taunt, Feint, Strength, Struggle Bug, and Low Kick.
The second evolution adds web shooting to his repetoire, growing spinnerettes in his wrists. He also gains superhuman leaping ability, superhuman reflexes, and an increase in strength.
Moves learned and/or approximated at this level are String Shot, Spider Web, Sticky Web, Electroweb, Constrict, Jump Kick, Hi-Jump Kick, Bounce, Agility, Counter, Rolling Kick, and Dynamic Punch.
Third evolution is yet another increase in strength, as well as needle stingers that can fire from his wrists, allowing him to use various needle based attacks. night vision, a healing factor, and superhuman flexibility.
Moves learned and/or approximated at this level are Poison Sting, Pin Missile, Twineedle, Fell Stinger, Circle Throw, Power-Up Punch, Sky Uppercut, and Aerial Ace.
Along with the aforementioned alterations to his wrists, he also grows slightly more muscular with each evolution.

SAMPLES
(NOTE: You may link a previous entry or thread, including testrun or musebox threads (but NOT Dear Mun), for one or both samples. However, we want to see the character in the setting of Brave New World and specifically in their AU for at least one sample.)
First-Person: Testing testing 123. This is DJ Peter Parker bringing you the sweet sounds of Union City and all points surrounding. Feel free to send in your requests if you feel like having them ignored because everything I just said was a dumb joke
Been out of town for a couple of weeks. Got a lot of research and sketch work done, but I might not have been paying much attention to he news beyond Pokemon movements as I should've. Anyone wanna fill a guy in on what he's missed
Third-Person: Here
If desired, you may answer some of the following questions. The questions must be answered in-character, as if they are being asked by a teacher, mentor, or superior. If your character is lying in their answer, please identify it as a lie, the purpose of these is to get an idea of how you will play your character in lieu of the other sample options. 4 questions answered can be used as a substitute for a first-person sample, and 6 questions answered can be used as a substitute for a third-person sample. Both samples may be replaced in this manner. If the character doesn't say enough in their answer, we may request a few more answers for an acceptable sample.
-What do you feel your role in Union is? Increasing our knowledge of the world. Sooner or later we're gonna need to spread out. We can't stay in the city limits forever. Knowing what's out there is the only way we're gonna survive.
-To what lengths would you go to rescue your allies if they were lost in the wilderness? Some might call them ridiculous, I call it living up to the standards my parents set.
-What would you say the most important occupation is within Union? There really isn't one more important than the other, I think. The city is functionally a closed system. Take out one part and the whole thing suffers.
-What aspects and traits do you respect most in your individual fellow man? A decent sense of humor, and the ability to take responsibility for their own actions
-What do you look for in the Pokémon with whom you bond? A sense of humor. A sense of fair play. The ability to get their heads in the game when the situation is going to hell in a handbasket.
-The gods of old have returned. How would you be judged if you were chosen as a representative of humanity? I can't even begin to imagine all of the criteria they'd judge me by, but hopefully I've been a good enough person that they wouldn't find me wanting. I try to be, anyways.
-You are alone and bereft of your Pokémon allies, upon what strengths do you rely on to see yourself safely home? A good chunk of intelligence, admittedly insanely good climbing skills, and a somewhat dysfunctional sense of self-preservation.
-When encountering a rare and powerful Pokémon, what is most important? Researching it, bonding with it, or defeating it? Why? Researching it. I wouldn't even begin to think about the last two without knowing more about it.
-What do you do to ensure we never again awaken the wrath of the gods upon humanity? Treating the Pokemon I bond with as friends, and treating the ones around me with respect.
-In your eyes, what is absolutely unforgivable? Scientific research without ethical considerations. It's one of the things that probably got us into this mess in the first place.
-What area do you seek to explore? The peaceful forest, in search of new, previously overlooked discoveries; the uncharted caves, in search of the unknown; or the wildest of mountain terrain, in search of danger, adventure, and thrills? All of them. There's a lot out there I wanna find.
